Looking for a clamp on mattebox for my HPX170. Does anyone have one that they are using that works well? Or would a clamp on even work on the front of that lens?

I don't think a clamp-on situation is going to be satisfactory.

I'm trying to figure out how to modify (or replace the present rail system on my HVX-200, Chrosziel system) . . . so far I'm coming up blank.

not to modify the subject, but I am curious if the 170 can even support a simple wide angle adapter without rail support?

I wouldn't recommend using a Clamp-on mattebox on the HPX-170, especially on the defective ones with the lens wiggle. With the HPX170 I'm using a 450 Mattebox kit (w/lightweight support system) I bought at B&H for my HVX200, you'll need a 110-81mm step down ring.

Tried my 16x9inc 0.75WA converter, you definitely need some sort of support for it.. oddly, images are soft at the corners on the wide range.
