Ok, so I've worked on several projects credited as "media manager." Basically, I've been a loader, but for digital workflows rather than film. As in, I'm downloading P2 cards or Red Camera CF cards. The first such project, I was credited as "media manager," and then the next project they were going to do the same, pretty much because that's what I was called on the last one, though I ended up doing all the 2nd AC duties and getting that credit. Now I'm working on another project where they want to call me the same thing again, simply because that's what I was called on the other project. No one seems to really know a title to give me.

I've seen job listings for media managers, and they aren't guys that download P2 cards. More like a position at a media company that manages assets or something. Whatever they do, it's not what I do, and I'm curious is there is a better industry term that I should be putting on a resume so that they know immediately, "oh, he downloaded P2 cards or CF cards or Firestore drives."

I've also heard the term DIT, but I'm not sure if that's correct either. Anyone know?

"Digital Loader" perhaps?

I think 2nd AC is probably the closest traditional term ... are you slateing too?

I've been using "digital loader" for the shoots where I wasn't clearly 2nd AC, as per your suggestion, but one guy I've worked with on a couple Red cam shoots refers to me as DIT. I'm not doing any extensive technical mumbo jumbo to make sure the video looks 100% perfect, though. I've barely played with REDAlert and REDCine, and there isn't much you can do after recording P2 until you import into FCP, but I guess downloading a Red card or P2 card, converting to Quicktime and making sure the footage isn't corrupted or under/over-exposed is about all a DIT might need to do on a low budget shoot. Thanks.
