Hi Guys,
Have you heard about multi-card reader that will work with the Sony EX-3? How a bout a 4-in-1 DigiAdapter for P2? Have any one tried it or will try to experiment it? Here's the link:

That would be heavenly, but I don't think there's been much success on the P2 side. It certainly does make the EX1 look a lot more appealing.

I hope Panasonic release a firmware update to support this product. Since EX-1 user now can use a cheap SDHC card, SxS cards possibly will drop in price, that will also affect P2.

SDHC card is getting larger and faster. 16 gig SHDC card is 20mb/s, 32 gig SHDC card is 40mb/s, when 128 gig is out, speed is no more a concern.

Such an adapter will never work, firmware update or otherwise -- the camera only sends raw data to the P2 card, and relies on the hardware in the P2 card to interperet this data and create the appropriate file structure. It's the same reason you can't just plug in any firewire drive into a DV camera and expect it to record video.
And yes, there are throughput issues that make P2 superior to normal flash media -- but even if SD cards increase in speed dozens of times over so a RAID array in the P2 card isn't necessary, the specialized hardware will always be needed.

P2 cards on a regular computer without the driver won't work. Then it only works when you instal the driver, which is a software. I know they can make it work in the camera by software driver upgrade too.

Not necessarily true.

Why not possible? P2, when u mount in the computer is just an external drive. And when u mount the card reader is also an external drive. They only need to implement a driver to work as P2 in the camera.

Who is "they?"
And how do you know that only a driver is necessary to make this work?

Inside a P2 card, there are 4 SD flash cards, and a memory controller. The memory controller is hardware that is proprietary to Panasonic, and unless they license it out, no amount of software/firmware will allow you to emulate a P2 card. And even if you are able to reverse engineer it, you'll probably run into legal problems with Panasonic.
SxS cards on the other hand, follow industry standards, and that's why we're able to substitute other Expresscard adapters.
I wish there were some less expensive alternative to P2 (aside from external recorders like FS100 or Flash XDR), but I think we're stuck with it for now. Maybe if everybody starts buying Sony cameras because of the cheaper recording media, then Panasonic will take notice.

How about Panasonic give as an adapter like this. Maybe I will change my mind not switching to Sony. My HVX200a is on sale now.

The Compact Flash Association has established a new interface standard called CFast, which is based on eSATA, and can handle data rates up to 3Gb/s. They hope to have parts out in 12-18 months, so maybe everybody can standardize on that. The chairman is from Canon, so they'll probably be an early adopter.

Hi today i receive a beta testing item from www.Hdrevolutionstore.com.
the kit is very impressive remove hd and insert sdd drive in the FS100 .No problem , absolutely
consider that with a 320 gb sata drive with theyr own format utilities, they archive 354 min of dvcprohd with PIIEXTREME HD 320gb, only one partition, estract and edit immediatly.
Incredible
How did you get to beta test?
and do they give you a drive already configured, or do they give you a kit to configure your own? If hte latter, do they make you give back the mod when you are finished with the test?

Or is it all just BS and they're spamming since the same post has been posted in numerous topics?

If you continue to post exactly the same post repeatedly, what credibility do you or does the company you are advancing have?

I am pretty sure that is not true any more with the new P2 cards in terms of the SD cards.
