Since both use the same imager, what's the difference?
I mean I know they use different codecs, the 150 being long GOP
does it have a huge effect on image quality?
Or are you essentially getting the same looks, just additional features with the 170

i'm curious about this as well, being that i'm deciding on the two. I think they are both great images.

I'm just guessing, but I would think the HMC will be slightly sharper (1920x1080 AVCCam vs 1280x1080 DVCProHD), whereas the HPX will have slightly better color (4:2:2 DVCProHD vs 4:2:0 AVCCam). There is also the whole 21mbps long-gop vs 100mbps intraframe issue for editing.
Beyond that, it's the extra features you get with the HPX.

That's why I'd love to see a shoot out because if it's essentially the same image with a few more steps in post, the savings along would allow me to get the macpro
