Just got the camera yesterday, only had a bit of time to play so far. Woke up this morning wanting to try some 60p -> 24 slowmo. Had a few minutes before work to take this (and then convert and upload it remotely while at work, haha). Can't believe how well it holds up with hardly any light. I'll replace this clip with some better lighting (and the correct shutter speed, doh) when I get a chance, but it gets the slow motion across for those of you who were wondering.

Wow, great slomo. I forget, were you a mac or pc guy? So, if I understand correctly, all you did was shoot in 720p/60, then dropped that footage onto a 720p/24 timeline, right? Thanks for sharing!

you would have to conform to 23.98 or 24fps or i think you can drop it in the timeline and slow it down 40% i think thats the correct math im not sure

thanks for that mcsmooth. Looks great!
What shutter speed was that shot at? A faster shutter speed would help with the blurriness.

I'm still unclear EXACTLY how to get the 60p clips into FCP? I've tried a couple times and when I choose the clip from the SD card, it goes into the cue but instead of transferring it says "idle" with a red exclamation point.
UPDATE: I can get it to work if I drop in the entire clip without in/out points. Hm.

Thanks for the comments. Although the camera (and the cats) did most of the work for me. :)

Right, plus slow down 40% like Jaimebailon mentioned. That technique should work for any 60p/i camera and any 24p capable NLE. I'm a PC guy, really looking forward to CS4 (and a new computer).

Being in a hurry, I pretty much turned on the camera and shot it. Totally forgot to set the shutter speed. It looks like it was either off or at 60, but I know 120 would have been perfect. I confirmed this yesterday, but while testing, I had more interest to try 250 + timewarp to slow it down another 50%. Results were good and bad depending on the motion. Some of the jumps turned out real well, but the close up run-bys fell apart badly. Might be able to clean it up with some detailed tweaking. However, my single core P4 makes this task painfully unbearable.
