What would be a decent tripod to get for an EX3? I have the PHU-60 unit mounted on top of it.

Thanks for any help.

not sure about a EX3, but I use the Bogen 525MVB with a 503hdv head for my EX1.

Or you can spend the dough and get a Sachtler

the Miller DS 20 on carbon fiber legs ... very good piece of kit.

Miller DS20 or Sachtler FSB-6.

Having rented a 503 when out of the country and unable to secure anything else, it is fine for static shots. If you must tilt, pan or any combination of movements, you will defintiely see the difference between a Manfrotto/Bogen and a higher end piece of gear. I know it's expensive and it's your money not mine-- but I don't think that a tripod is the place to economize.

cartoni focus, still a great bang for the buck...
Libec seems to be the best on the low end with their LB-38, rated for HVX sized cameras with extras.
But if you can afford it, get a Sachtler, it will probably last longer than your EX1 anyway;o)

Thanks for all the info! I'm gonna look into all the tripods mentioned.

What about the new Sachtler SOOM? Very versitle and made for smaller cameras like the EX1/EX3. You can break it apart and use it as a small tripod for very low angles, a mono pod, and a standard tripod that raises up VERY high compared to it's competitors. $1500 though....might be over your budget.

I'm currently pricing a Cartoni F104 Focus system. The sticks and head go up to 72", which is something I need quite a lot.

The Sachtler SOOM goes up to 96". Just so you know.

Personally I like the adjusters better on the Sachtler compared to the Miller. But that's a matter of personal opinion. :)

Good Suggestions.

We had the Sachtler, but now we're using the Miller DS20 in our demo floor. They are both good.

Junior, can you give any details to the differences in "usablility"? Thanks! :)

The problem is you can't use ball adjust with the pole as far as I could tell.

I "think" you adjust the ball (the camera level) with a big knurled ring that runs around the base of the head. I'm sure you can level it because B&H says it comes with a bubble level.

Thanks I'll have to check it out. Normally you have to adjust using the legs when using a center raised pole.
