I would think so but I only use SanDisk or Panasonic for my equipment so I have no idea about Transcend.
I just got some 1 gig Micro SD cards that where off-brand for my department [we don't care just get the cheapest thing you can find kind of thing] and they were $10 each so I think $12 for 8 gigs is low.
It could be righteous however.

The danger with off brand memory cards is that they may die after a few times. There are reports of users buying cheap off-brand cards (for other cameras) and seeing the cards die after a few times.
IF you copy files to the card, do a file check, erase, and try this 12 times without a problem, it MAY be safe to use. As I said before, most cheap cards fail right away...
I would NOT risk shooting a wedding with a cheap card.

Transcend is a well known brand. All my flash memory is from them and I've never had a problem. However, all brands have a failure rate, even Panasonic, so you'll never get a 0% risk of failure.

Transcend is a good brand, but it is still too good to be true: the amazon sub-vendor gouges you pretty bad on the shipping. They aren't very forthcoming about it either, it only appears late in the order process. I canceled.

the transcend media is really good. I've been using it with my SD9 camera. When I bought mine 6 months ago, this 8 gig card was 30 bucks. I think the 32 gig cards would be the sweet spot now at 120 bucks a piece... that's a whole hell of a lot of shooting without swapping cards.
