Would work well for the lower bitrates but the PH setting requires a Class 6 setting and that card is only rated at Class 4 :(

That's a great price, and you KNOW we will see prices continue to fall.... BTW, PH mode only requires Class 4. Class 6 is overkill even for PH mode

That's what I read... class 4 and above. MAN.. that is a great price. To get 3 hours of P2 recording you'd have to get 2x32 gig cards or the 64 giger... either way, it's 120 bucks compared to 3000 bucks.

This coupled with Stevets ability to shoot EX1 footage to these cards makes things very interesting. Makes me think about the EX1 as well... and certainly the 150. Excessive price for memory has become more of a pain. In the beginning I was happy to pay it because of how exceptional and revolutionary the HVX was.. and is. Now there's other options out there, and I don't want to pay a grand or more for an hours worth of recording. That price would allow me to get a D90 for God's sake

J & R has the Panasonic "class 6" 32gig cards for $299.

This is about as low as they have gotten so far. As soon as we see 64GB, expect these to really drop. The real money spot right now is the 16GBs, just got a class 6 for $35 shipped.

Figure the top model of any technology is never the best bang for the buck. For example the 1.5TB drives are finally out, and now deals are popping up for <$100 1TB drives. Granted sometimes you just need the most storage, but figured anyone who is getting the 150 is all about bargains :)

Somebody should do test on all these cards.
I want to know why panasonic's sdhc costs 3 to 4 more.

I'm going for 8 gig cards right now for $18. I rarely shoot more than 40 minutes and I'll pass the card off to the producer at the end of the shoot.

i'll probably shoot most my stuff for work on 8gb cards and burn to DL DVD's(and store on HHD's as well).

They don't really.

Newegg only has a few 32gig cards and they are "class 4" for $150-180.

Class 6 will cost more.

But I am willing to pay an extra $150 for the best compatability, if there is any difference.

just to confirm this... A class 4 card would have the same performance as a class 6 card working on the PH mode in the hmc150?

So this would be fine? http://shop.bjs.com/SanDisk-Ultra-II-8GB-SDHC-Card-and-Reader-Front-Page_stcVVproductId46640739VVcatId428349VVviewprod .htm

PH will record the same on Class 4 and Class 6. The difference will come when it's time to offload that card to a computer; a Class 6 card should be 50% faster.

Those aren't the only differences among cards; check out the manufacturer literature to see what benefits each manufacturer touts.

Both great arguments for the 8Gb. File management/moving clips gets a bit murky for me since I'm on Mac... I'm tempted to get some 8's for this reason alone. If prices keep dropping on memory and media this'll be cheaper than HDV tape pretty soon! (I can dream, can't I) :Drogar-Love(DBG):

So am I.

Newegg transcend sdhc class 6 go for 40 bucks
panasonic costs around $160 which is also class 6.
But I havenst seen any panasonic cards offered on the vendors site so I guess it will be cheaper.

50% faster is well worth.
Especially if you will be using this camera for news gathering .
Every second counts .

Any reccomendations on card readers?

I am mainly interested in the 32gb cards, so to me, the Panasonic is not that over priced for a class 6 card.

The smaller sizes seem to have better bargains though.

I just did a google search. I got my cards from http://www.supermediastore.com/. The prices seem to change from day to day. They include free shipping with their pricing.

Thanks for the heads up on the rebate. I read the form and saw that the rebate goes UP if you buy more than 1 (max 3 cards)

NOTE!! Make sure you buy from a retailer listed on the rebate, though!! I almost bought from Newegg - but they are not on the rebate form. I ordered from Adorama.
