Guys, I run across this in AE from time to time with the camera in 3d space.

*Forgive the roughness of this example*

I zoom in to the earth, then want to continue zooming at a slower pace. I have three key frames for the start, speed change and end, but as you can see the camera for some reason zooms in and then pulls back out even though there are no key frames telling it to do that.

I know Andrew Kramer explains how to fix this in one of his tutorials, but I have no idea which one. Anyone know?

Hey William I'm not sure if this will fix it but highlight the keyframes where you want to be slow and right click key frame assistant-exponential scale.

This might fix your problem. Let me know.

Josh

Thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately that option is grayed out in the menus.

Hmm... If you upload the file I can take a look.

Yeah, that's a real pain in the butt. You have to set hold keyframes. Without a project in front of me I don't know where to put them, but I think in the past I've put them just after my "real" keyframes (probably you only need one after your slowing keyframe, not your start, but it depends where you're seeing the drift). As far as I know it's just a bug because AE wants to keep things moving. Hope that helps you. I'm sure I learned that from Andrew Kramer but I have no idea which tutorial it was in.

It sounds like you have to change your keyframe interpolation options.

Right click on one of the keyrames near where the problem is occuring. Go to Keyframe Interpolation. It'll likely be set to one of the Bezier options. Try setting it to linear or one of the other options and see if that works.

Can you upload the project? I might be able to take a look for you. I have a feeling it is something trivial.
