Am I missing something? I couldn't view the files uploaded by Darren (shrigg) until I converted them to DVCPRO and viewed them in Premiere. Is there a way to watch them directly in the Viewer from the files on the hard drive? I'm on a Windows XP machine.

Did you try using VLC? Can be downloaded free of charge here: www.videolan.org

I don't have VLC, but I could try it.

Mainly I was trying to understand the functionality of AVCCAM Viewer. Does it play HMC-150 files only if they're stored on an SD card?

Sorry, it's not in my inventory.

Yes. That's the impression I got from the avccam viewer manual, it will only play files from the card or camera.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion. I think it's badly designed on Panasonic's part. If you can mount an SD card on your computer and run the video, why not from your hard drive? It doesn't make sense.
