Smashing Glass with Reflection

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could shine some light on a little effect I have in mind for a film. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=E4blSrZvPhU 44 seconds into the Watchmen trailer a window smashes out with the relection of the building and city in the glass. I was wondering if anyone knew how I could replecate that effect in a composition?

Have you tried shatter? This is a quick example.

You might be able to accomplish it with the shatter effect, and camera projection for the reflections, but I think it may be a job better suited to a 3D app with a good raytraced render..
