I read somewhere that it's necessary to use a UV filter to protect your lens from any scratches and what not. What UV filter would you recommend for the hmc150?

Also.. as far as lens maintenance I never really knew how to clean the lens properly. I was told to use a lens cleaning cloth with eye glass cleaner and wipe in a circular motion. True?

Thanks!

Yes it is helpful to protect your glass. I used the B+W (great glass)
for yours if the 150 uses the 72mm thread it would be this one (with the MRC coating):

...or you buy a 35mm adapter and leave it on the camera :D

I actualy do that.

the microfiber cleaning clothes are great.. just be careful in not getting them too dirty and check to make sure you don't have any sand on them or such...

I got this uv filter with my camera yesterday - top quality and it comes with a nice little rubber cover which will be great when packing up the camera for travel - a lens cover with no "clips"!.

johnnyha, you purchased the SLIM filter ( 66-026941 ), not the standard one (66-070243 ) correct?

I'm assuming that you mounted it to the 150 and that the filter DOES NOT come in contact with the lens, correct?

I jusy got off the phone with a Schneider Optics support guy and he said that MIGHT be an issue.

Correct - It's close but NO CONTACT. So the slim filter works.

Question coming from a still photography background - are there glare/lens flare issues associated with UV filters and this camera?
