I have another pretty basic question... I just want to make sure I'm buying the right stuff. I did a quick search here but for some reason I couldn't find anything specific.

I need some quick release plates for my EX1. My tripod is a Miller DV Solo 20. I also have a Glidecam 4000 Pro. I have a Microdolly Jib but I'm not even sure quick release plates work on that or not. For photography I have some Bogen release plates for my 5D and Bogen tripod, pretty straight forward, but the Miller DS-20 fluid head has some weird sliding plate thingy which is a pain and I don't even see how a quick release would attach. I'm about ready to start getting serious nature/wilderness footage with my EX1 and I have more gear than I should for as little as I know, ha!, but I would like to be able to quickly switch from tripod to stabilizer to jib to dolly, maybe even screw a plate into the top of my skull.

I went to B&H under the Miller tripod I have, and the EX1, and neither gave quick release plate options. I'd like to order some by tomorrow. What do I get? Gracias.

Gracias... I wonder what the main difference is between the Bogen / Manfrotto 394 Rapid Connect 4 Quick Release Adapter you linked to, and the Bogen / Manfrotto 577 Quick Release Adapter Assembly http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/241139-REG/Bogen_Manfrotto_577_577_Quick_Release_Adapter.html

Any particular reason you chose the one you did over the other?

I have both, one click from the top and one slide in from the back. It depends on what you like and what you are using for. i used to have a cavision rod support, and part of it is sticking out at the bottom. so sliding in from the back was not an option when I use the 577. So I use the 394 instead.

I prefer the 394. Unlike the release plates that slide in, the 394 allows me to attached the EX1 to our Flyer without having to rebalance. I also can't use the siding plates with our shoulder mount, because the camera won't completely slide out.

I ended up buying 4 sets of both to see what I like... by far I prefer the 394's over the 577's. The 394 is more like what I'm used to with my still camera... a simple click and you're in. With my stabilizer and my jib the 'rear' sliding access of the 577 is not practical. Plus the 394 has level bubbles. I'm returning the 577's.
