Before I hit the "purchase" button on a notebook computer used for field dumping SxS cards only, can someone flat-out say, "The 34mm SxS cards used in the Sony EX1 fit perfectly well in the Express Card/54 slots". I need the peace of mind, ha! My computer knowledge sucks.

:)All the new labtops comes with Express card 54 slots. They will except Express 34 memory cards. The numbers stands for the number of pin slots on the card. I assume they were designed for later physical memory addition; i.e; a 128GB 54 Express card in the future, or other devices attached to this high speed port. These 54 pin devices are designed for the laptop only. The SxS memory fits fine in the 54slot fiting off to the left and takes only the first 34 pins. My Sony AVIO works perfectly and has the 54 pin Express slot. -- Carl

Whew! Thanks, Carl! I 'thought' that was the case, but I needed to hear it straight up in broad daylight. You have done a wonderful thing.

Carl, the number actually relates to the width of the card and has nothing to do with the connection. The Express Card 34 are 34mm wide and the Express Card 54 are 54mm wide.
An EC34 goes into an EC54 slot just by keeing it to the edge of the slot when you insert it.

Definitely works, I've got an EX54 slot on my laptop and I've used 34mm cards frequently, including SxS cards.
