Last night we recorded to the 60gig hard drive that I bought with my EX3. We went to import it today into FCP and it's coming up "general error"... Also it won't play in Quicktime... How can we go about fixing this?

Thanks for any help.

I think I found out the problem. I haven't run the disks that came with the camera yet. Been crazy busy over the weekend. I'll let you know if that doesn't work.

Here's my problem. I shot a short last weekend. We recorded directly to the PHU-60 unit, 1080/24p at 1/48th shutter speed. I've plugged the unit into my computer, and try opening the footage in FCP. It comes up unknown file type, or general error sometimes. I have not been able to see the footage at all in FCP.

How can I go about fixing this? I've installed the stuff that came on a disc with the EX3, but I still can't open the footage in FCP.

Thanks.

Footage has to be imported into FCP using the XDCAM transfer tool. This automatically opens from FCP when you select the menu (in FCP) File/Import/Sony XDCAM

Just tell me the first thing you did was copy/back-up all your files to another hard drive.

Help Please!!!
I'm editing a show shot on the ex1. The original cards were backed up in their original format. The drive i am editing from had crashed and needed to be reformatted. I am trying to re-ingest the footage that was lost, but one card seemed to have not been copied properly it is missing the "CUEUP.XML, MEDIAPRO.XML and the TAKR folder. All the other files seem to be there, is there a way to still import this card using another method.

Have you FCP 6.04 or newer fcp? Have you installed the newest SxS drivers? Have you installed the XDCAM Transfeer 2.8.0 software from Sony? If all above i realy dont know whats wrong.. (sorry for using same reply.. but its still the right answer)
