I have to say, I am gaining a real appreciation for MM's work. I think we honest-to-God have a B-Movie-Master in training here.

MM, you GOTTA do some sound work in post. Everything will look 100 times better with good sound.

Now, there's a plot hole in there. But I'll let the rest of you find it for yourself. But it's a fun flick.

And his movies are always some of the first I watch...

This is the type of film that you have to make with absolutely no reservations, and you, my friend, had no reservations. Just went for it with everything you had. It was fun. I agree with Mark about the plot hole (and I'm pretty sure we're thinking of the same one), but again, plot holes abound in this genre, so not a big detractor.

Gotta go watch the other one . . .

Seemed a little dark and some of the edits looked funky to me.

I'd call this one "Evil Funky Spooky Film"! Great job. Now I must watch the other....

Too dark at some parts (hardly to see anything), and yes, improving your sound would make this much better (and by 'much greater', I really mean it.)

Story got me a little counfused, but I enyoyed it.

Overall I liked the movie quite a bit. I think its an improvement over your previous work.

I havnt seen your other fest entry yet but I'm looking forward to it.

Well, it was indeed a dark fortune that was met. My main question is: why was the daughter so frightened in the house with the killer when they were cahoots the whole time? But good job on getting a youngin to act. It’s the best I’ve seen from a youth in the fest so far (best that required any real acting.... anyone can throw a ball in the air). The biggest issue I see for you to work on is lighting. Keep it in mind …next fest!! Keep it up, you evil person you.

I like your camera movement. Try experimenting with dynamic camera moves. Shifts of perspective that reveal things. you started doing this, and i must say i like it. Try it more... experiment with how you can tell the story with the camera, by creating more "meaningful" shots as opposed to, coverage. know what i mean? you've come along way MM......

I enjoyed this. Things I liked: the girl looked really afraid when she was tied up. I've seen other shorts this fest where victims don't behave afraid. She did. I really liked the moment when she runs out, and your camera is in the car, it really works. The way she spills out of the house, and the mom runs up to her, that was a great moment, made me think of what I'd do if I was a parent and came home to my child running out like that.

Things I didn't like: why was the girl so afraid of the killer when they were working together? That made no sense and ruined the film for me. You should white balance, all the shots are very red, although this might be something you wanted. The driving shots are way too dark, we can't see the drivers, an eye light would have been helpful. Also, why oh why do helpless women walk in houses when there's a danger element in there? Such a cliche, I hate when that happens.

But nonetheless I enjoyed this. It created tension, which is hard to do. Congrats! :thumbsup:

Cool flick, MovieMaster!

It's got some genuinely creepy moments. I love the killer's methodical pacing. Kind of a Michael Myers style lunatic. Love it!

There are a few technical issues that maybe need work, ie. lighting, cutting, sound, but they've been covered and are really issues that are easy to improve upon. Every film is a learning process, and you seem to be getting better with each film. Keep it up!

Really cool, gritty vibe. Scary villian. Nice twist. Thumbs up.:thumbup:

I know you were recommending him, and I think it's bad advice to try to "be like" any other filmmaker rather than to learn the vocabulary of film and become more and more adept at it in order to better express your own voice.

The quote was for MM. Haven't seen your movie yet, but from what I've heard the quote would readily apply to you as well. No idea what that means but whatever it means, I'm just kidding. :)

Well I dug the story and it was pretty dark. I think we should all make movies that make us happy as individuals and not worry what everyone else thinks. OF course when submitting to festivals and competitions be prepared to hear the gambit of comments.

Loved it. I totally get it that the daughter got "into" the role in order to protect herself. When she gets interrogated by the police she'll need to have a story that is believable and consistent. How better than to act out the incident so that she can respond convincingly and consistently to questioning?

I found the handheld shaky and distracting. Also thought there was a missed edit near the end, continuity didn't seem right. Car shots were just too dark.

Lived up to it's name. Dark. I really had to strain to see detail.

Little 'Blair Witch' with the hand held but liked the shadow effects and the menacing character POV up the stairs.

No surprises, but enjoyed the suspense. Nice job on the bad dude.

Overall it felt 'inspired by' B-movie teen slasher flicks, and I never really saw the twilight hook.

Some nice painterly effects with light.

Hey,

Just caught the flick. I liked what you tried to do in this. The camera work was fine and while there was a bit too much screaming/moaning in fear, I thought the panic of the piece came off well.
Unfortunately it didn't entirely sell me. There just seemed to be too many holes in this one for me really get into it. The ending was shocking not because of the twist but because the girl comes of as just plain mean because I didn't think her (mother?) deserved what she got. At all. Which might have been what you were going for? I'm not sure, but it seemed harsh.
And I just can't wrap my mind around the idea of the girl being THAT panicstriken about someone she knows it not going to kill her. It just strikes be as incredibly odd.
The killer's mask is very creepy but alas, a little overdone, I think (I kept thinking of all the other bag-headed killer movies I'd seen.)

But a good effort and thanks for sharing. Hope my comments help. Can't wait to see your other one.

I definitely liked it, I gotta say the screaming got a little annoying (too much) but definitely added to the story, When the girl ran up the stairs though in order to keep the viewer convinced that it was real I would have had her bust outta the door or at least run out....it seemed like she got to the top and then walked out?

Great flick. I would like to see the warm colors cooled way down and desaturated a bit. This would really give it a creepier feel. Maybe even black and white.

Hey MM. Crazy movie but I think I liked Restless better. I think I get what you were going for but It just didn't grab me. I did like the shot through the windshield though when the girl came running out of the house. You definately know your genre and how to create the imagery for it. And two movies in one fest?
