Does anyone know what the rough price will be of the HPX170 - I can't find any prices for it on the internet.

Will it be $8,000, similar to the HVX-200?

Thanks

All major dealers should have it on their site.
Spec Comm has it listed at $5195

Panny Oceania is including the 16giger with the cam for 6300 AUD? Makes me feel slightly better about it costing ~4900 CAD without the card up here in T.O.

Just out of curiosity, is there any compelling reason to go for an HPX170 right now vs. waiting for the Scarlett to arrive in '09? $5,200 vs. $3,000 approx.

The camera exists, you have no idea if you will even be around once Scarlet comes out, or even if it ever will come out (the way things are right now economy wise).

Good point.

I'm still going to wait a while. Either Red will come out with Scarlett or maybe Panasonic will come out with an 'A' version of the HPX170 similar to what happened with the DVX100.
