Starting a thread a bit late. Filming will start and hopefully end this weekend. The following week will be busy with editing. Maybe I'll make a poster if I have time. Wish us luck.
Here is a poster I made in a little spare time:

Welcome to the fest! How is it going?

So, hit a few snags.
We planned filming on Saturday but our lead got food poisoning Friday night.
One of the locations that we wanted to film at was closed and on vacation for the past week.
I have to go to a sex shop to buy handcuffs.
Ok, I guess that last one isn't that bad. But we are still in this. Filming is resuming on Monday and may finish on Monday if we're lucky. Editing will swallow all my time this week. Cutting closer and closer. In my spare time I did have time to make a poster though.
Good luck to my fellow film makers.

Wow, looks like I lack the ability to read due dates. We filmed everything Monday thinking the film was due on September 27th. Boy, do I feel silly.
At least I have more time for editing...

LOL... that's great! I was wondering why the rush? Welcome to the fest...and hey... now you have plenty of time to tweak the film!

you have to watch those reflections, glass doors, windows, well a lot of things, your sound guy has a nice boom pool though.

The reflections got you, but they get all us from time to time. I liked the story. The pastor was a great actor. I wish the devil would have demoned up or something though. I enjoyed it. Framing was off in some points but so was mine. : ) good job.

A fun rift on the everyday man against the devil. I’d work on camera placement though. It was just way to static for my tastes. Liked the last shrug from Garry. Keep it up.

Good work, funny especially the shrug at the end, kudos.

I won't touch on what's been mentioned. I did like the acting quite a bit, as well as the ending. The closing line was perfect! :)
I enjoyed the bit after the credits as well.
Nice job.

Ditto on the comments above... audio needs work & i saw the boom reflected in the sliding glass door at around 5:06. Enjoyed the story and acting. Devil was great!

Great way to start off with a huge question; it keeps people watching. From a writing standpoint I would have foreshadowed a bit with the fact that the protagonist is presenting something to his pastor later in the day. The dialog at the counter in the camera store was very good. I especially like the acting of Satan.

Bryce A mentioned working on camera placement and I would agree. A few more close ups and OTS would really enhance what you have here. I think its a great start and the story was clever and I think you actors did a good job. Your lead especially.

Didn't really read what everyone else put so this might be repetitive... but i thought it had a very good story and that the acting was brilliant. The only thing was if you had thrown in a few more camera angles, Close ups or some establishing shots it could have really added to the film. Also, be aware of your crew and if they are ion the shot i spotted a boom reflection several times at the end of the film. All in all great job! Can't wait to see your next one!

didn't see the end coming, and with the title I was kinda misled and thought it was silly at first. good watch tho, and good filming. there was one distracting audio break.

Hey,
Just caught the flick. Wonderful acting. I thought pretty much everyone did an outstanding job. And I really liked the story. I think you worked out the reveal at the end about who the hand-cuffed guy was really well. Kept us wanting to know without us feeling like you were deliberately not telling us.
I would have liked to see more devilish things in the devil character. I mean, far as he comes across, he's just a guy that is the devil, or at least that's what we're told. I don't think he's really characterized as such and I think that would have improved it a lot.
Also, the production value could have been much higher on this. Some shot variation and different lighting would have helped. Also, boom reflection at the end man, ouch. That hurts. Could have benefited from some music as well.
But this movie kept me intrigued until the end and the acting was solid. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to your pieces in the future. THanks again.
great idea!
i agree with Danielleus though in that Satan's character should be a whole lot more mischievious. make him do some insane things, this character has unlimited potential!
the acting is really good! good film!

I absolutely love the last scene, the way Courier shrugs as he looks at the Pastor. Classic. Pure Genius. I really enjoyed this, great writing, and you kept us guessing all the way to the end. I did notice some ADR / voice mismatches, nothing too terrible, but it was distracting enough to pull me out of the moment.

This was a really good film. Really hilarious in parts. The script was good and the actors were great, especially the "personal demon". He had great chemistry with the main character. The one thing I would say to work on, which echoes what people have already said, is shot variations. Let's get some more closeups or over the shoulders, etc. The warm fuzzy look that the film had gave it a feel like British productions...that kind of look that stuff that airs on the BBC has. It added to the quirkiness of the story for me. Really good job!

Whew, thanks for all the response guys. I can't believe something we filmed in one day in a confused rush actually got this much positive response. We did a lot of planning and script revision to try and film this in a short time and I must say, thanks for the replies. I will definitely let the actors and writers know your praises and criticisms (I was the younger lead and 1st draft writer as well as director/editor). I will definitely drink in the suggestions.
I must say that I felt the same about the need for more dynamic shots. I could not do much of the camera work in this film, but next time I will make sure to write out better camera direction. I will have to check the audio problem, I think I may have played with the gains too much in Final Cut since we didn't change the mic or camera settings through the whole shoot. Oh, and the reflection...embarrassing. Hopefully I will pay more attention to due dates and not think I am late when I am a month early next time (face palm).
This has been lots of fun and I have just recently gone through all the films. Hopefully I can leave some suggestions that are as helpful as you have left for me.
