Huzza wuzza? So, is this a firmware hack for Canon cams with a live preview function only?

Wow, I'm gonna keep an eye on this one because 40D has fully manual control in live view. Is there any info on frame rate, resolution and compression?

Interesting looking firmware hack. Wish he'd said more about the sample video he put out, the resolution is low and there are some interesting artifacts that might or might not have come straight from the camera.

all cameras have full control in liveview

Even the D90? I didn't know this. I thought they stopped working as soon as you enter live view on the D90. So they don't stop working until you press OK?
interesting hack
the chdk people are the behind the success many canon p&s cameras :D. canon should pay them.
none of them has an uncompressed format other than G-series.
with their firmware hacks i was able to get many tricks done on my S2 IS
i've seen similar things with d300 liveview video feed over usb. being captured that is.

Thing is, 40D Liveview is 30fps while D300 is only 15fps.

Nice.
But it records to the card as 24p.
Can you hijack the signal and record at 30p as well?
the 15 limitation was in order to display it on its 920k back lcd
40d has a 240k back lcd. that like 4x data less, at lower resolution.
d300 doesn't have the higher priced camera's cpu so that's the reason.

I'm gonna get a 5D and send it to this guy to hack 24p out of it. >=\

when you use liveview?
no camera limits you in any way when using liveview. how would you take pictures then? in automatic mode?
some functions are disabled when you record video on d90 but it has nothing to do with its liveview mode.
