Hi, I just started using the HVX and have just transfered files from the P2 to my OSX Mac for the first time but I cannot open the video files in Final Cut or any other program for that matter because they are .XML
Final Cut prompts me to "Choose a translation document file" but I honestly don't know what that means I need to do. I'd appreciate any possible help. Thank you!

Before you edit make sure you copy everything from the p2 card then hold down command+shift+8 and a log and transfer window will appear allowing you to get to the footage you just copied.

to clarify, you need to copy into a new folder: the entire CONTENTS folder as a folder, and the lastclip.txt file into the new folder. do not try and rename or restructure any of the P2 files, then what dante said.

The "Clip" folder does not contain video clips. It holds the metadata associated with each clip. The metadata is in XML format.

Watch this tutorial...goes thru the entire workflow from camera to FCP. Minus the other solutions like Raylight, HDLog and MXF4Quicktime.
