No, I don't actually have a clip, 'cause I don't have my camera yet, but this is definitely one of the first things I want to try out. I'm sure someone will beat me to the punch in the next 24 hours.
Like I said in another thread, I'm going to try: wireless lav on talent/friend, recording to a 29.97-only GL1 in a courier bag on my side, then recording 720p with the D90, and doing some sort of rough slate, a hand-clap should work.
After, capture/dump everything and attempt to sync, should work okay for very short bits.
A dedicated audio pocket recorder would be nice, too, just don't own one currently.

I was going to post this as well, but I wanted to know from Hunter if it's possible to hook up a wireless lav to the zoom h4

Why would you need to clap? The D90 video will have the mono audio track. Should be easy to sync up and replace, I'd think.

I just find it easier to sync a visual frame instead an audio frame, is all. But yes, you're right.

Easier to sync up when you see a spike in the waveform channel.

"i'm using the Zoom H2."
:)
Just got the Zoom H2 today, but no D90 yet :( Waiting for the body only to go on sale.
But will try out the Zoom H2 this weekend and will be incorporating the audio into a slide show with pictures taken with my D70.

I've got an iRiver and a pair of Giant Squid cardioids that I hope to try out in the next day. I've used it for a few podcasting projects. Nice things about that rig is that its small enough to hide in someone's clothing - plus the iRiver iFP-8xx is really quite cheap.

Would the zoom H2 pair well with a sound devices 302 mixer?

How would you use that?
Would you go mic->SD 302->H2?
If so, you can find much better recording devices for your application.
The H2 is beautiful because it is self contained.
Same with the H4

What exactly do you mean "it is self-contained"? You mean it won't let you over-modulate while keeping it at its highest clean levels??

I believe he means it has mics built into the unit...self-contained...no mixer or additional mic needed.

You can use a sound devices 302 mixer with the H4 much easier as it has XLR inputs.
That might be a nice set up actually.
But, the H4 might be enough all by itself depending on your application.

I just got the Roland Edirol R-09HR (http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.aspx?ObjectId=960). Should be here in a couple of days. I have a Sign Video XLR-Pro (http://www.signvideo.com/xlr-pro_xlr_adapter-audio-mixer.htm) 2 channel mixer that will feed the mic in on the R-09HR. I'm hoping this will be a good solution for synced sound. Of course, I'll have to get a D90 and figure out how to get Premiere Pro 1.0 to support the MJPEG codec (it doesn't seem to now with some footage I downloaded). Would appreciate any suggestions... :dankk2:

Might be someone here worth checking this out:

And I wanted to ask, with these field recorders, is there no way to monitor sound while recording? You just have to hope it turned out good?

Just curious - what we be the easiest way of syncing up the sound? I mean, what software would people use for this? I'm using Final Cut Pro for video editing. Am I best to do the syncing using something else?
