I’d like to use my own picture as part of my profile, how can I do that if I don’t have a website? Can I download the picture somewhere? ???

Because many members post avatars, it is obvious that a lot of people have the answer to this simple question, but I guess it is more important that this is posted in the right category so that I do not offend anyone. Thanks for the help.

I guess you could use Jarred's great frame grab service, and link it from there. Besides that almost any free webhosting will do. Keep the picture 65x65 pixels.

This is an interesting user group, instead of answering my question, one person chimes in and is a smartass and another wants to kick my ass. Johan, thanks for at least offering a suggestion.
1. Jarred could you please send me a copy of your DVX Filter Test DVD – I have asked several times for a way to pay for it, to no avail, so would you please just give me one?
2. I am 6’8” 270lbs and run the 40 in 4.5 – still want to kick my ass!?
3. Is it possible to add the capability to simply browse for a jpeg file to include as an avatar in our profile?
4. Is there a place to post issues that relate specifically to user group management?

First of all.. There is a link to the dvd test at the top of this section you can click on to buy the DVD test.
Second, the frame grab is for people showing work, not for personal Avatars. If you understood the traffic this site gets and how expensive that traffic costs for this FREE site, if I offered to host everyones private Avatars you would understand. Just do a google search for free webhosting and you can do it there.
Third, The ass kicking wasn't meant to be literal, but I am an exact match to your size, although I think I may have half an inch on you, so bring it on. Good thing you can run fast. ;)
Fourth, in the Cafe there is a suggestion box for the forum, thats a good place to post user group management.
Fifth, chill out, I dont know why everyone is so testy in the last couple days. Must be something in the water.

i dont mean to be a smart @$$. im simply making a point that should you choose to contribute to the board here, you should be courteous enough as to simply place your post in the right area. i wouldnt respect anyone parking their bmw on my lawn. no matter how nice it looks, its just not the right place for it. *the reason we have seperate areas divided into specialzed subjects is so that we can easily find, and archive information in a way *in which it can be retrieved easily. users here have gone so far as to request many differnt specialized areas, so that we can know excaclty wher to go to put or get certain types of info, and for you not to take the time to follow suit and keep this place neat and tidy, is somewhat insulting. *as if your saying.. "to heck with your pretty little fence here.. what do you need that for.. ill just park my beamer here cause its easy for me" . ok *..
and then call me a smart @$$ because i make a comment about you carelessly parking it there.
.. ok i dont want to get off on the wrong foot with you or anything. i obviously dont know you, and you could be a cool guy, so to be straight forward answer your underlying questing . YES . it is very important to most of us that people take the time to respect the organization and structure of the forum and its subsidiary sections. *yesterday *the drivers side front axel broke on my car when i was driving it resulting in dmgds which totaled the veh, and i was pretty upset about that .. so you caught me on a bad day.. sorry bout that , but in general we have become rather annoyed with spam or litter posting in general.. its just sort of disrespectful imho.

It might be nice if we all “chilled out.” Part of the problem with “not being literal” online is that it does not always come across the way you intended– I know you were not threatening to kick my ass, just as I really do not think iamloser is a smartass (sorry to hear about your car), it was a play on words (a funny one I might add). However, there is nothing ambiguous about the statement “Do that and I will kick your ass,” geez…
A simple “this should have been posted in the Café” would have worked just fine, I would not have placed it where I did if I knew better. Although I have only posted 39 times I think you will find that they are all respectful and added value to the conversation.
Regarding the DVD Filter Test, several times I have requested, along with others an alternate to PayPal to purchase it. PayPal is expensive and it is not secure, it is not a good way to do business, but I am not here to tell you how to run your business – I just want to GIVE YOU MONEY! If you don’t want me to purchase your products, just let me know.
You are probably right, there is something in the water – you know that Canadian water that we all drink… (before anyone else gets their panties in a bunch, that’s LA water humor)

Just do a search for:
FREE IMAGE HOSTING or STEAL it from somewhere else (Right click and view properties). Mine is from allposters.com I think.
NightHawks, great painting, I've noticed it ever since I've joined the forums...if you get a chance the Showtime show called Dead Like Me has an episode called NightHawks that ends with the main characters in their diner, which looks a lot like Nighthawks, its cool.
