The quality of the mxf files is great. Raw.

Although I haven't learned the proper setting in my hvx200a to film in (working on local law commercial), the quality of the hvx looked great via p2 player on pc. When loading in Vegas via Raylight codec, it seems to lose a lot of quality.

However, the isn't my real problem with the program. Even the text files I create in Vegas, after the commercial is completely done and rendered, adds a lot of artifacts.

My question is... what format should I start Vegas Pro in (size as well) for broadcast. And what format should I save.

If there isn't any set format, suggestions would still be appreciated. I am not a film student, but have worked with video since I was a kid, and always loved editing and filming. Until recently I never had the resources to do anything like this, and now with the resources, I seem to be coming up with a lot if technical issues stopping progress.

Thank you.

Double-click the raylight control and make sure you're on the "blue" setting. Raylight has several quality levels (lower quality for more speed).

Hi Barry, I am still in the middle of reading your book that came with my hvx200a. Great so far, but admittedly some of the things lose me since I have never went to school for film. The hvx200a has so many different formats, the book has many suggestions, I just kinda guessed on my first shoot what size, format, frame rate, etc. The quality in the end looked like the show "The Office" though, which surprised me, since I just guessed.

Anyway, thanks for your contributions!

I have raylight on the blue quality, and also on the program checked "Native Size".

Not sure what "make self contained avi" "auto quality" "fast render" "supress recomp" do, but I have none of them checked.

The quality of the file does change, but my main concern first was the actual quality of Vegas Pro (on files I created in Vegas Pro / the text files (captions added)). On render, the text files looked pretty bad.

Vegas Pro isn't your problem.
