What's the policy on this?
I have all my storyboards cut together with dialogue and temp music. Can I (should I) post it?

yes. if you want to let that much mojo / cat out of the bag, go ahead.
I'd personally suggest you not give the store away for free. Only show one or two things and not the very best parts.
Could be beneficial / interesting for the rest of us though.

Are we supposed to be keeping this a secret? I for one was planning on posting my script and storyboards when done for feed back from other filmmakers, I figure that's what this site if for. I also see twilight as a chance for all of us filmmaker’s world wide to come out and play together. Less of a competition. I mean yea there’s a little bit of oh man wait until you see my baby, or the dingo who ate it. I for one would love to see your animatic.

Okay they're up... but here's what I'll do... I'll leave them up until 11:59 tomorrow night and then I'l replace it with just some individual storyboards. So basically... check it out now... or just wait for the regular storyboards tomorrow night.

Yes. Exactly. And I don't think giving every element of your story away to everyone before they see the film serves the filmmaker or the discussion of the film.
It's the same reason BTS segments of a DVD are intended for AFTER you've viewed the film. How many times have you watched BTS and heard a director say "I hope you're watching this after you've seen the movie." Because film doesn't come with a decoder ring that's supposed to let you know what the filmmaker meant before hand. That's not the art, the craft, or storytelling. The film should stand on it's own.
Here its a mix of sharing ideas and input and helping each other so it's a mix.
Giving away everything in animatics wil def. help everyone besides Mike.
IMO giving away everything animatics short changes the feedback he could get about whether his film stands on its own and communicates what he intended to or not.
But if giving away every element of your story before we see the films is the best way for some to get feedback then sure go ahead. Typically you want some people informed along the process that can give you feedback and you want some people that are fresh. If we all know what you are trying to say before you say it ... i.e., complete your film, then you undercut not only our experience as an audience but our ability to give you feedback on the actual movie from a fresh stand point. We'll be watching it on a context that virtually no other audience member, contest judge, festival programmer, producer have.
I don't know how many times I've seen it happen on these boards where almost everyone or a large majority of the viewers thought the filmmaker was going for something counter to what they actually meant, or didn't pick up on what the filmmaker intended. So if you show everyone, everything, and we know that the mother is dead and her son that runs the motel has embalmed her and has conversations in both their voices before we watch for the first time (Psycho), then you rob yourself of of valuable feedback like "I knew way early, right from the moment he ..." or "Even after it was all over I didn't understand how the mother could be killing everyone if she was really dead." Or whatever. And no I'm not just talking about revealing twists. I'm saying that if you prep your primary audience on every aspect of the film before they see it, you won't know what you've effectively conveyed solely in the film and what they're getting because they had the inside track as to what you were going fore beforehand.

Thanks Jack, that really put it in to perspective for me. I just removed it! haha..
I'll post just a select number of storyboards for show... but the animatic is gone. Perhaps it'll be a bonus feature on the DVD!

yeah no worries. like I said, some people you want advice from everystep of the way and want for them to know your whole process and what you're trying to say so they can help you guess if you're going to come across clear with it or not. But that should probably be a handful of people you trust. Maybe show it to us all after the fact.
Either way it's no big deal, just depends on when and how you want to include us in the process and what kind of feedback you want at what stage. Ultimately of course it's up to you.
Looking forward to your film.
