just wondering what ball people are putting in their films?

I'm also wondering whos finding creative ways around showing an actual ball? maybe showing a Ball instead as in a dance.

I wonder if marbles would be considered a ball.

I'll start and let my secret out, as i'll be shooting in a Catholic church, my plan to date is to have one of those spinning bingo things full of balls with numbers on them.

Ball as in a Dance isn't what they want. They said that in the rules...

and I'm using a nerf basket ball....

and a basket ball in the other

great now everyone knows my secret

Yes. Make sure to read through the posted rules (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=141503)... plus some 200 following replies. :D

No pictures of balls either.

The problem is... it seems to be all over the place in some aspects. All I heard at first was that it had to be a ball that bounces. They allowed some odd shaped balls, like a football. No issues there. But scanning through all 200 replies I caught THIS (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showpost.php?p=1351123&postcount=133).
Apparently Crystal Balls are cool?
Very odd since it is nothing like a regular ball. i.e. Tennis ball, basketball, soccer ball, etc...

Allowing a Crystal ball seems to open some doors. It is also tough to expect everyone to read through all 200 posts to find out which exceptions there are to the rule. Funny thing is, I don't recall there ever being such a huge issue with a required prop before. :)

BTW, I started off thinking that I was going to use a world globe. I figured early on that something "ball shaped" would be close enough. Once that was vetoed I decided that I would use a magazine cover with a basketball on it. No go. I found out that pictures of the required element were no longer allowed.

I have a new idea for this one. Should be funny actually. :)

what does a ball have to do with the Twilight Zone anyway? I can see a watch with the time fest, but a ball? Maybe they said in a past post but I' not going to go read them all....

Balls that bounce? Well Ii don't know about your balls, but my balls bounce to the left and to the right!

Oddshaped balls, thats good for Dustin Rogan, don't know first hand but I hear his balls can get pretty square kidding

Is it really that hard to just put a bouncing ball in there? I wish I could be like, "yeah - I hear you with wanting to put a globe in there as a ball", but really this point has been argued since the fest began. The mods pretty much made it clear to stop questioning it, and put a bouncing type ball in there.

Sorry to be an ass, but just follow the rules that were set by the fest, and have a globe or what-have-you elsewhere plus the ball. Just roll one across frame. Have it on a counter, it isn't hard to do.

Clarified...
Okay, let's face the "ball" question up front.

A ball is: a ball. Not a dance, not a gala, not a sphere, not a globe, not "having fun". It's something round that bounces. Examples are: a tennis ball, a golf ball, a ping-pong ball, a nerf ball, a basketball, a four-square ball, a soccer ball. A jai-alai ball.

For those who just can't conform, we offer three alternatives:
1) A football, which isn't entirely round
2) a billiard ball, which doesn't bounce.
3) a crystal ball, which doesn't bounce.

What wouldn't count? A hockey puck. A globe (unless it bounces like a ball). A crystal orb reflecting sphere in a garden. A dance (like "The King's Royal Ball".) If it isn't commonly known as a ball in the conventional sense, then it doesn't count.

This shouldn't be rocket science. If you simply absolutely must have a globe, then go ahead and have a globe. Just insert a ball in some shot somewhere, and you'll be in compliance.

Simon thanks for that, so back to the question, which balls are people using? and how are you using them?

its kind of hard to read through 23 pages of posts, while I'm supposed to be compositing lol.

No prob!

Here is another shorter explanation from Larry R:
Not a party, not a sphere, not a globe, but a "round or roundish body, of various size and material, either hollow or solid, for use in games, as baseball, football, tennis, or golf, etc."So, a oneword definition would be: A Sportsball :)

And my balll... well, it's a secret :D

Don't know, never played bingo... but you could put pingpong balls in there

Who said a football doesn't bounce? I've seen them bounce. Maybe not straight back up but if they hit the ground right they will bounce.

No, bouncing balls that are referred to as "balls" and it's kind of a game.

I guess I should check.

I tried the picture of a ball since it was done in Hallows Fest. No go this Fest.

No big deal to me. I would just hate to see someone get screwed for not reading through 200 posts to figure it all out. :D

I am actually quoting Larry R. But this says nothing of a ball that bounces. When did this come about and unless you are all daft there is a very simple clue right on my poster.
