Just trying to find a firewire 800 cord for my HVX.I've found just about every other connection end aside from the one that goes into the HVX.

Any help?

FW800? Maybe I am misunderstanding your question.

Don't you mean FW400 (4-pin)? You can get 6-pin to 4-pin cables or even adaptors that convert a 6-pin to a 4-pin online - Cables to go is a good place.

no FW800 on the HVX or any other cameras yet.

The HVX only has a FW400 4-pin port on the side of the camera. FW800 is typically for hard drives, and I don't think you'll find many cameras with FW800 on it.

I've never seen a 4-pin to FW800 cable.

Malcom,

I use a FW800 cable all the time. here's my setup:

FW800 to FW400 (6-pin) cable that came with an "OWC On-The-Go" brand hard drive.
And a 6-Pin to 4-Pin adapter tip on the end. Works fine if you need a 4-pin connection on one end.

Why?

However, isn't the HVX200/a limited to FW400 speeds?

If so, why use a FW800 to 4 pin FW cable?

I can see that being useful if your HDD only has a FW800 connection, but the transfer won't be that fast.

okay, thanks. I got what I needed. Yeah, the HVX side is 4 pin, but the new firewire card I got is the new firewire 800 cord.
