URGENT - how do I turn off Audio in a layer

I have 3 layers one on top of the other, each has audio, and the cumulative effect seems to be to raise the volume a lot in that one section. How do I turn the audio off on two of those three layers (note I need audio in the rest of the project from the source file). Just don't want ALL THREE layers playing audio in that one spot.

Rather urgent. AE gives little audio help in the help menu.!!!

EDIT!!! Aha! got it. There's an Audio WINDOW that allows you to slide audio levels. Cheers.

Also, there's a speaker icon for each layer that you can turn off to mute the audio. It's between the video switch (eyeball) and the solo switch.

Really? I'll look for that next time I open AE. I've just spent 50 hours at the computer with 1 hour sleep. Argh.
