DVD Menus

When I make films I usually just burn them with iDVD, but I'm shooting a more serious movie right now that I plan to submit to festivals and such, and I was hoping someone could recommend a good program for making simple menus. iDVD comes with these stupid templates, and you have no freedom to make your own.

Ideas? thanks!

you can design them in photoshop. even static menus can be cool. or save them as .png files with transparency and import into final cut with some video. i'm sure there are a ton of options as far as software, but that's how we did ours.
