Wondering if it is possible to use four lav mics into my HVX for a documentary shoot by using a xlr splitter and plugging two receivers into each xlr plug on the camera.

Or, is there any other ways to get quality sound in a four person roundtable type discussion without getting a seperate sound person with a boom mic?

My whole issue is that I need to be able to do everything myself because of crazy scheduling. Basically, I work and the people I am shooting work so I don't want to have to work around another persons crazy schedule (sound person).

Thanks for the help.

If you're talking about wireless lavs then you will most likely need to get a reciever for each individual lav transmitter -- meaning 4 mics and 4 receivers. Using wired lavs would be more cost effective and also more stable (less chance of sound problems and issues).

In any case, you would be much better off getting a sound mixer or mic pre-amp device and use that as an interface and monitoring tie in for your 4 mics. A mixer will give you the capbility to control and manage the levels individually whereas the camcorder will only have the two external input volume controls

doesn't work....you can split outputs using parallel wiring,
but you can't mix inputs that way. for that you need a mixer.
