help with pre-comp problem!

I pre-comped about 20 layers, and then I made some adjustments, but now I don't like how it looks and I want to go back before I pre-comped it to change something...i reached my max number of undo's, is there any other way to get all my individual layers back or am I screwed?

I'd hate to have to start from scratch just to fix one little nitpick.

1. delete the pre-comp from the compostion, timeline window.
Note - DO NOT delete the pre comp from the project window.

2. open the pre-comp

3. copy all the layers

4. paste them back into the original composition

5. place the layers in their original position if necessary.

Milksac certainly gave good tips even step by step follow that. Also just in case didn't know you can always open a pre-com by holding alt-double clicking.
