How similar are the images of these two cameras?
Both cameras will be on a shoot (but shooting different things). Will they cut together well?
They will be shooting 24-720P.
Bonus question: What's the easiest way of getting an HVX image onto HDV tape? (Yes, I know, I know -- but that's what the client wants).

Another question: On the JVC, how does it record 24P to tape? Like the HVX 24PA, or is there an interlaced frame thrown in every few frames? Can Vegas easily handle HDV 24P material from the JVC?

The cameras can be tweaked to looked similar. As for cutting together well, it depends on how discerning the eye of the client is.
Easiest way of getting HVX footage onto HDV tape is to print to HDV tape through Vegas or other NLE. The resampling of the color from 4:2:2 to 4:2:0, especially the red, may cause you some headaches, though.
When the HVX records in 24pA, there's a visible "interlaced frame thrown in every few frames," too. (But that's never an issue in 720; there's only 24pN and 24P, neither of which has any interlacing at all.) The 250 records in a sort of hybrid 60p stream -- Vegas has no problem with it as native 24p.

I did a test (Vegas HDV Print to Tape), and quickly realized what a sacrilege it is to convert DVCPROHD footage to HDV!
However they cut together fine when encoded down to WMV or MP4.
