What cables would I need to connect the 2 hvx's to the switcher?

Then again would it be better to slate, and if so what kinda firewire cable would I need 4pin to 4pin?

since the hvx doesn't have hd-sdi out I don't think you can use it unless you get the Optional HD Component Analog Board with the Y, Pb, Pr inputs. Use component cables and bnc connectors for the ends that connect to the board. Not sure if this is a solid solution, but from the information given thats what I'd do.

So getting the switcher would be recommended vs. syncing up all the cameras using firewire?

are you shooting the event live for screens there or for like a dvd later on? If you don't have to show it live there I'd recommend synching up the camera's timecode and cutting after the event is done because you'll have a lot more control over the look of the final product.

Oh ok thanks... So just rent another HVX in conjunction to mine, and get p2 cards, p2 store.
Cool I was just doing my best to avoid the long editing process.

You could rent or buy a couple of COmponent to SDI converters......THats what I would do, and what I am planning to do once I get the benjamins to buy a switcher.

tim's right. I still think it'll be a cleaner edit if you do it in post vs. live but you might be pretty good at it. If that's the case buy the converters for the 2 hvxs and record as-live.

That settles it... From p2 to harddrive to edit.
Now I have to make sure these cameras are synced up.

I think you can do it somehow by choosing 'continuous timecode' or one of the timecode settings for the p2 card....read into it though I'm not sure that's right but I'm pretty sure it's possible. I had to match action when I shot a multi-cam concert and that was no fun, try to avoid that at all costs.
