Films from the 80's and 90's

I am working on a project and I am just curious about peoples view on movies of the 80's and 90's as opposed to the high budget seemingly same bullcrap movies of today. I feel like movies just emulate each other over and over again. No real interesting ideas today. The only hollywood film I saw all year was batman. Oh, and pineapple express. How many more Will Farrell esque comedies... Even Apatow and Seth Rogan or Will FArrell (Pineapple express, knocked up, superbad.... Talledaga Nights..... the list goes on. This guy makes a carrer off of making the same style film every time... it sucks.....

There's no difference between now and then. Arnold, Stallone, Van Damme, etc..... ring any bells? All of which made some pretty bad movies in their day. All with the same formula.
