I am considering purchasing a HVX200a and I have what I am sure is a pretty non technical stupid question. Can you record directly to a FiresSore drive without having a P2 card (or any card) in the camera? I did some research saying that you can simultaneously record to both, but was unclear about going straight to the FireStore.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

You can record directly to the FS-100 from Focus in every mode but pNative.
And with v.4 of the software, you record the equivalent of pNative.
You do not have to have a p2 card inserted to record.

Perfect. Thanks for the quick response.
but dont think that the firestore is a way to simply avoid using P2 cards.
in the long run its not a matter of either/or, both P2 AND firestore each have their appropriate uses. and trying to use either for EVERYTHING can be a journey wrought with unhappiness
