I wonder what happened to the "Best Newcomer" and "Creative Vision" prizes?
Any information why it takes so long or are they dropped at all?

Good question, but I would assume they are really busy. I know Mark has been on set - though he isn't a mod. But I remember the mods said they were exceptionally busy.

Did we say somewhere that we were gonna do those this go around?
Can't remember.
I think Love Fest was the only New Comer Award we've given and the Creative Vision comes and goes. But beyond 1st, 2nd and 3rd, the awards kind of shift around. We try new ones. Drop old ones. Make ones up if we feel "hey that should be recognized but doesn't fit anything we've done before" (hence best new comer for Love Fest).

They were announced in the prizes thread. Not who got them, but that there would be some.

At least thats what Jason said:
Mod Squad awarded prizes:
We haven't picked our winners yet due to being busy travelling, but I will tell you the prizes now and update this post as soon as possible.
There will be an award for Best Newcomer, and an award for Creative Vision that will comprise these prizes from Danny at DvTec:
The ever popular DvMultiRigPro HD:
http://www.dvtec.tv/id33.html
And, the DVRig Pro HD:
http://www.dvtec.tv/id27.html
Winners of the above two prizes will be announced soon...
In addition to all of the prizes above, we have some other things to give away as well:
DVeStore ill also give away a DVenlightenment DVD to one random entrant in TimeFest
http://dvcreators.net/dv-enlightenment/
DVXuser Mod Neil Rowe of Rowe Cine is giving away a set of brand new Iris Rods as well. This winner will also be picked at random.
And, finally: Barry Green and David Jimerson are donating several copies of their line of products from Wrightsville Beach Studios, and Fiercely Independent Filims that they will pick and announce. Winners can pick any of the products that they wish, or may choose to wait for their next DVD.
So, another 10 to 15 grand in prizes in the bag and on it's way out to you folks. Congratulations to all of you, and good luck to everyone in TwilightFest.

There was supposed to be a horrorfest DVD, which was a long while ago. And it never came out - ever.
Hell - that is a horrorfest entry right there. The User Triangle - where DVDs and Prizes go to die.

I find it very sad. I am a newcomer. That I never can get one of the first prizes was very clear, but if there is a newcomer prize and my film was voted not so bad, then there is a little, little, little chance for me. To see that there happens nothing is not really a good motivation for beginners!

I think they gave the prizes away, and now they are just tying to ignore it and hope it goes away.

I wonder what the sponsors of the prizes think about where their prizes have gone to!? :D

i think we're going on about 2 months now. And about a month since Jason closed the thread and said it'd be "a couple days".
I mean ... it's only about $1500 worth of prizes ...

I wonder if they got to a point where they didnt want to give them out

I'll chime in here and say that it could quite possibly be sponsor issues. I still haven't received my "Creative Vision Award" prize from Hallows Fest and it's been almost a year since.
Mr. Ramsey's been working on it, but no luck it seems.

Emails have gone out. Stuff should start getting out the doors soon. It is 10 grand of stuff moving here. Don't want something like what happened with cinealma there. Almost over man :)
Plus, I've had a lot on my plate as of late in more facets than one is my own personal excuse, and I apologize for that one. But, I don't want to be careless in my cluster headed-ness when it comes to moving 10 and 20 grand worth of prizes for these things. It could be much worse.
I'll make it up to you come prize announcement time for TwilghtFest :)
Later,
Jason

Thanks for taking care of this Jason! Your work is so appreciated! Without you there would be no prizes. A resounding applause for you! :dankk2:
