Hello

I Have HVX200 connected to a laptop with Adobe OnLocation .. but when i Capture in HD (1080i) the sound is full of scratches

In SD everything is ok .. I think that the laptop can't make a smooth rec ?

It's a Fujitsu AMILO Xi2528 :
Intel Core 2 DUO T9300 2,5 GHz
2048 MB RAM

---------------------------EDIT---------------------------------

I Just made a quick capture with the internal microphone in 720/25Frames and is Ok
I will test it tommorow with the boom

it might be that you either need to render or you dont have enough ram to play it through. 2.5gb of ram is questionable.

It's not a RAM issue. 2 GB is plenty.

Could be a hard drive speed issue -- what speed is your hard drive?

I made some test and I found it's the boom .. with the internal mic is OK even in 1080i

it's a Rode VideoMic .. with the rode Adaptor (mini Jack to XLR)

2.5 ram is questionable? Now I'm kinda worried. I haven't gotten my HVX yet, or worked with HD footage, but my Mac pro only has 1gb of ram, and I think when I bought it they said ram is unable to be upgraded. For some reason I thought that only the processor made the difference in speed.

uhhhh - NO. i wouldnt even think of working in video without AT LEAST 2 gigs of ram. and whoever told you that a macpro's ram isnt upgradable is either an idiot or a liar. and no, overall performance is a symphony of processor/bus/cache +ram+videocard+hard drive/connection speed. it ALL factors in.

I could have sworn the guy said that ram was un-upgradeable, but i could be getting mixed up. Is it the CPU that can't be upgraded?

How much would it cost for me to upgrade my ram to 2GB?

ram is almost NEVER un-upgradable. the CPU can be upgraded SOMETIMES to one degree or another but usually via some kind of wonky 3rd party solution (which in my experience) causes as much headache as anything else. and ive never heard of intel mac upgrades at all - so, yes. id imagine if anything was described as un-upgradable it would be the processor.

but ram is cheap. i havent priced it lately but id imagine an extra gig being $100-$200 or so. but i say get all you can afford. the conversational norm these days ive found to be is 4gig.

but be careful. each mac has a different type and process to upgrading ram, i.e. some machines in the past had to be added in pairs. so 1 gig would have to be added in two 500meg chips. and you only have so many ram slots, so youd have been advised at that time to put as large chips in as you could afford.

but then again, im not sure of the process with macpros. but whatever vendor you choose will advise you.

I have 10gb in my 8 core mac pro and its beautiful. I would recomend having a norm of 4gb. That is the max FCP can use so if you do more then fcp at the same time you may want to consider more to get full performance. You can get away with 2gb for SD but I really dont think ull be happy while doing HD. buy your ram from www.macsales.com you can get 8gb for $400 so I would assume 2 would be around $100. and Wgzn is right whoever told you a mac pro isnt upgradable should be beaten by steve jobs. You can have up to 16gb in the 4 core and 32gb in the 8 core.
