My wife recently borrowed her mom's Netflix copy of "The Orphanage." As we sat down to watch it, we quickly realized it was strictly in subtitles. I, being more of a hardcore film loving geek, wasn't phased by the fact that it was a "foreign" film but it took a bit of encouragement to get her to sit and watch.
As it turned out, we both enjoyed the film. Essentially centered around the haunting of an old orphanage, the story was told in a very subtle way as opposed to the whiz bang computer generated madness employed by Hollywood. Of course, this is just the humble opinion of a man who simply likes movies, but I think this film left an imprint on me and may influence the way i tell stories in the future.
