What 35mm Adapters are compatable with a Canon XL1s?

I happen to be selling a wonderful (albeit expensive one) on eBay - the P+S Technik. There were Letus and RedRock (?) also for the XL series, but they are extinct and hard to find. Check on the DOF adapters section or google the letus. If you are going to get really serious check out mine, but if price is a factor, try the letus...

Any of them are compatible. Some of them were specifically made for the canon XL series.

So if I get one that wasn't specifically made for the XL series then what extra equipment would I have to buy?

The only thing that you would have to worry about is thread size. If the adapter thread size is different from the lens thread size, you'd have to get a step up/down ring to fit. Less than 20 bucks.

Better luck posting this in the right section, which would be the 35mm adapter section under film making.... or under the Canon thread. This area is for 35mm/16mm/8mm FILM.
I guess what I'm trying to say is:

The reason there are adapters made specifically for the XL series is because those cameras have a much longer lens assembly than other prosumer cameras. That's why you have the LetusXL (now discontinued) that lets you replace the stock lens entirely with an adapter. Otherwise putting a 35mm adapter + lens on there usually results in an extremely long and unwieldy rig, but it can be done, you'll just need an extra long rod support system and a very good tripod to hold it all. None of the manufacturers make XL specific adapter anymore, probably because demands are small.
