Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how to unload the P2 card directly onto my computer through the P2 driver. I've already installed the P2 driver and the P2 viewer, should I really just copy and paste the files from the P2 card onto my hard drive, or is there a program with which I can do it quicker. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

You can do it in many ways; drag and drop does work as long as you're careful to preserve the entire directory structure.

I'll second that recommendation. ShotPut P2 is a great program and full of automation. You can copy to 3 hard drives, verify, erase and rename the card all with the press of one button. Well worth the $50.

Is shotput an improvement over p2 genie?...I keep looking for comparisions, can't find out if they are rough equivilents....

Huge improvement. Verification is a big thing. P2 Genie did a lot of the same things, but not file size or file structure verification. Plus it can provide a lot so you can track down any errors.

Well, I bought shotput and found the windows version has problems...it formats the card in a way the hvx200 does not like.
You still have to manually format the card in camera. I spoke to someone in tech support (actually had to leave my number and wait for a call back)
He said they have a problem that requires Panasonic to send them a camera to trouble shoot the issue....he said wait a week for the update...ok...
The Imagine web site has two pdf files acting as manuals for the Sony ss card and Panasonic p2...both pdf files are identical and both are for the Sony...none for the p2....hmmm...the automatic P2 download still requires invoking the app and then pressing some dialog buttons...not what I define as automatic.
I'll wait a week or so and see what happens.

Hmmm...the Mac version formatted the card and the camera liked it. Usually the PC side formatting the card is all that the camera likes, Panasonic being very PC centric.
Formatting in the camera actually is the best way to go about it anyway.

The lure of Shotput was to eliminate all the user activity in P2 card dumping...not replace the old procedures with new procedures...for $50 to boot!
