Hi,
I just got a copy of Sony Vegas Pro 8.0, and I have never edited with it before. The last time I touched any sort of NLE program was FCP HD back 4 years ago in college, and I forgot everything I learned.

Now my question is, where would someone like me ( ZERO experience in Vegas and very little experience in editing in general) start? I'm gonna be doing mostly documentary, reality show type stuff, so I just need to learn the basics. Any suggestions on where to start or where to look so I can learn? I need to be able to edit simple video and audio clips by Saturday, so anything at this point helps. Sorry for the newbie question but I really need help! Thank you guys in advance!

You could watch some training material on YouTube. I think, this is the fastest way, but not the easy one.

The other way is to buy a training video/book. That takes more time and also money...
I successfuly examinated from FCP6 level1 by watching lynda.com training videos.

I bought this book: "Vegas Pro 8 Editing Workshop by Douglas Spotted Eagle" and learned how to cut Vegas in a day. Amazon has it cheap, Borders carried it in the store locally.

Start with the Spotted Eagle book, no question.

I was in the same boat you were in 5 months ago. I purchased the installation disk sans instruction manuals from BHphotovideo for dirt cheap. I bought a couple books from Borders to read. Although they were earlier versions of Vegas, I still learned a lot, and have a lot to learn. I don't know how fast your computer is, but you'll need at least a dual core and lots of RAM to cut down rendering time. I found that my render times were slightly quicker if I rendered to a different hard drive than the C: drive. I think you'll love Vegas. If it's super easy for a noob like myself, it will be easy for you.
