Hi guys,

This is my first time on dvxuser, I'm having a problem opening the video .mxf files on my pc. I recently copied my P2 card over to a 1TB hard drive, however, everytime I try viewing the .mxf files on my pc, I'm unable to open it. I've even tried using Sony Vegas 6.0. Online I've seen people use RayLight to actually use the .mxf files, but I'm not at the point where I can shell out an additional $200 for a program. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Your only option is to use Raylight, or buy an MXF-capbable NLE, such as Edius Broadcast, or Avid.

Premiere Pro CS3, After Effects CS3, Avid, EDIUS Broadcast, Liquid, and SpeedEdit can all work with the MXF files natively.

If you just want to look at the files and not actually work with them, you can download the free P2 Viewer program from Panasonic's website.

You do not mention the wish to edit them so..

To view them only you can use P2 Viewer or P2 Forge (mxf Players)
