View Full Version : Mixing 30p with 24p

This might have been covered already but nothing comes up when I try to search for it under the Vegas section.

I have mainly all 24p footage, so I am editing in a 24p project. I have 3 clips I need to use but they are shot at 30p. When I just add them into the project like normal, they kind of ghost a little bit.

Is there any way around this? Maybe with After Effects or some other Vegas setting I am unaware of?

Thanks!

Render it out the 30p stuff to a 60i DV file. From there you can convert it to 24p. I think you get into all sorts of sh*t when you try and convert 30p to 24p, cadences all screw up or something. 60i to 24p OK.
Correct me anyone if I'm wrong, i'm in PAL land so this stuff is normally of no importance to me.

Rendering it out to 60i won't help; it's already 60i on tape.

The timebase of the footage is still 30 fps, and there aren't enough motion samples to make a good transfer to 24p. You will still see all the ghosting, etc..

So 30p can't be mixed with 24p nicely?:(

Edit/export as 60i. But ideally, you'll have wanted to shoot as 24p standard, not 24pA.
