HVX Won't Turn off, and turns on automatically recording

When I turn the HVX on, it is automatically recording, and none of the buttons are working to start/stop recording, bring up the menu, go to MCR mode, etc. Also, it won't turn off unless you take the battery off the camera.

Can anyone help?
