Hello, I'm new to video editing, so my questions are probably basic. I have recorded 12 classroom style teaching sessions with a Sony hdr-sr7 and the audio recorded separately converted to a wav file. They are about 1 hour each.

I did minor editing in Sony Vegas 8 Pro, syncing the audio with the video and etc.

What I hope to do is render and burn the highest quality possible and still get two one hour sessions on a dvd, using DVD Architect 4.5 in conjuntion with Vegas 8 pro.

I thought that if movie dvds can get over two hours of film and extras on a single dvd with good quality, then I should not have a problem with my final burn. I even thought there might sort of a standard out there already for this. I was wrong.

I guess I have not found the proper combination yet. What is the best way to achieve this goal?

Render the acceptable mpeg-2 format in Vegas that dvda 4.5 wants in order to avoid recompression? This seems like it will need very low bit rate.
Render an avi uncompressed and let dvda 4.5 do the compression?
Some other combination I do not know about?

Thanks,

Rocky

I vote for option 2. DVD architect "knows" how much compression to put on the video in relation to how much disc space would be used.
