Forgive me, but I think I just posted this same message in the wrong subject. Very sorry.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is my problem: I'm using an HVX200 with a Firestore; recording setup in the 200 is 720p30p; recording setup in Firestore is PN; the recording seems to go fine; after recording some material I do "organize P2" on the Firestore; I hookup the Firestore to my HP nw9440 laptop (forgive me but I've never used Apple) and from within P2 Viewer I set a virtual P2 card; the P2 Viewer shows the clip and will play the clip but there is a red x indicator on the clip. The HVX manual says that that isn't good. But it will play in P2 Viewer.

Might anyone be able to shed any light on this? I would, of course, be very grateful. I'm supposed to record with this setup tomorrow or tuesday and...well....you know the feeling.

Thanks much,

Herb,

I've had this same experience ever since I upgraded to the v4 firmware on the firestore using P2CMS on the Mac. I think that it has to do with something that the FS-100 writes in the XML regarding the frame rate. I contacted support and was pretty much just told that the code is written to meet Panasonic's specifications so it's up to them to make it work. They didn't really respond when asked why it worked okay in v3 but didn't in v4. I guess not enough folks use Panny's software with the FS-100 or just don't talk to support about the issue. No updates to address this in over a year.

I only use P2CMS to transfer footage and that still works but it is disconcerting to see red x warnings in all of your footage. Makes it very difficult to identify a problem quickly without going through, in my case, either FCP or Raylight. All of the clips do playback fine.

Obviously, you should check to make sure that your footage is okay in your NLE in case this is something different than what I've outlined, but it sounds like my experience with the FS-100.

HTH
