I'm a newbie to video editing. My current camera is a Sony HVR A1U and Vegas Pro 8. I noticed that the reds in my footage is slightly over saturated and the hue is off. The reds sometimes look more "pinkish" than red. I tried changing the hue in Vegas, but I'm not really happy with the result. Could you suggest a technique for turning the "pinkish" hue back to red? TIA

Vegas has a lot of great tools to help you tinker with that. My best suggestion is to just keep experimenting with their plug-ins until you feel comfortable. They are very powerful once you understand them. The Color Balance filter works good for small tweaks like that. The Color Correcting wheels obvious do a lot, and the Gradient tool can also really shape your colors if you tweak it properly. Play around, since it's all a judgment thing there's no absolute method, and any of those filters will give you roughly the same outcome, just with different tonal qualities to a discerning viewer. Have fun!

I don't know what kind of Secondary Color Correction tool Vegas has, but that's what you want to use. The idea is that you tell the program to only corrects color of certain hues, brightness and saturation.
