Hello folks,

is it possible to give my P2 cards Permanant names? It bugs the hell out of me when I'm transfering data, and I have to try and decipher which of my cards was 'reel one' and which was 'reel two'.

I know in the grand scheme of things, it dosen't matter once I've imported it all, but I just like to keep my archives neat.

cheers

I'm able to rename the volume name of a P2 card while it's slid into the slot and mounted on my Powerbook. But the minute I use the "Format P2 Card" option on the camera menu, it defaults the name again. I guess as long as you manually selected and deleted clips to get rid of them instead of formatting the card, you could keep your changed name.

If you format the card in Windows, you can name it anything you want. The Mac formatting application (included with the P2 drivers, though you may have to download them again if you originally downloaded before January) should do the same.

Formatting the cards in-camera does erase the name, but formatting the cards in the computer preserves the name. At least, on Windows it does; not sure about the Mac Formatting Station but I would presume it does the same.
