Zoom PROBLEM on DVX100B

I'm new to the forum. Enjoy reading posted and looking at the latest from the group.
But, I'm now in need of some help.
I'm about 6 months into the use of my DVX100B and I'm finding that the zoom rocker arm doesn't always activate the zoom. Not sure what's causing it. I've moved the auto/manual switch on the front a couple of times to make sure it's engaged properly. But I'm getting the auto zoom to happen sporadically! Any idea what might cause that? Something I'm missing the settings? Something mechanical I should be worried about?

Auto zoom... What do you mean by that? Are you sure you don't mix up the auto focus. Or do you mean that you're only able to control the zoom manually, and not with the zoom controls? The only way to switch between theese are by switching the control in front of the camera, under the lense.
