I just read the "any other girls here" thread, and it got me thinking, im sure im not alone, but how many of us are there! How many highschool kids are on the forum?? I myself am going into 10th grade, 15 years old, at El Camino. Anyone else in highschool? or maybe even from Ecr  (including any alumni)

I was fresh out of high school when I joined here. Class of 2005. I'm going to be 21 in a matter of weeks. It hasn't been that long, but I've grown a lot as a person and filmmaker, thanks in part to DVXuser. I kind of miss the days of turning in movies for grades, instead of papers. I might have stuck with college if they allowed me to do that.

never even loaded a IIc mag in 90 degree heat, while the whole set is waiting for you.....

hahaha, oh how i am used to the "babies" reference. All of my friends just left highschool this year to move on to college.:crybaby: They were really the only people that were as dedicated as i am! Everyone in my grade just sits around and smokes pot dead serious! But im hoping to keep in touch with most of them, being i have all the equipment they will need in film school mwahahaha :Drogar-Evil(DBG):
I recently signed up at another forum that was made for teens, but really, i just felt like there was nothing to be learned there! And it just has, eh, not the community feel that this forum has! DVXuser is my homepage and im always on it.

But as much as its nice to be surrounded by all this talent and knowledge, its always nice to know that their are some people that are the same age of you! I'm desensitized from kids my age, and i forget that its not "hey wanna go shoot a movie" with them its "hey wanna go get waisted!" just not productive enough for me yeah know!? i just kinda wanted to say thank you too everyone for making this forum what it is, its really nice to have somewhere to come and be with people intrested (and making money:) at it) in the same things you are.
As for me, I have three film classes next year=] thats it for my rant, until i think of more :D

nope. but honestly, it would be an honor! :D

i like to think i'm 15 at heart tho.. i still prefer to drink my booze in the park out of brown paper bag even tho i have my own apartment.. ha ha.

See! at least you have the decency to do that! Teens now a day, nah, no need for paper bag! I once had a friend come up to me at our movie theater and go "Hey man! Long time no talk! [for good reason] Want some?" and he pulls out a bottle of cognac. NO BAG. NOTHING. So immediately i go, nah dude i dont want to buy any of that stuff, and walk away as fast as possible, i have been searched there many times for no good reason, and very well wasnt going to get caught with liquor there!

I'm proud to say I grew up and started making films in the VHS/Hi8 (and editing with VCRs) era. Okay, so MiniDV cameras and cheap computer editing programs were around, but my parents didn't even get us a computer until I was about 15, and they STILL use their old Hi8 Camcorder (which is what I shot my first movie with). Back in '04 I got my first DV Camcorder, the one-chip Standard Def Canon zr85, and that was 500 bucks new. You can get a used HV20 for less than that now. But I digress, a lot.

Isn't that like an oxymoron? :)

This forum is my homepage and im always on it.

Don't tell PK that one.

Seriously, be happy you have found something productive and worthwhile to spend your energy on. You'll be running laps around those other people in life.

17 here. Left highschool a couple years ago. Don't ever do it, it's the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life, I've never been this lonely. One day you'll realize highschool is basically "hey, go be social and hang out with all your friends for 8 hours a day", so enjoy it while you can.

Fohdeesha, I just went to your site and because I also just read an article about backyard trampolines (no, not for myself), I was watched THAT video. DUDE! Are those powerlines right there by your flight path? And yeah, you totally missed the "safety device".

Kids, stay in school --AND-- Don't try that at home

LOL, yea, that was about 6 years ago. We weren't too bright back then. it was my buddy max jumping off, the power lines are to the left of the shed, not in the flight path LOL. That would not have been good at all.

It is no secret that I am only 16. When I first joined the forum I acted older, not necessarily on purpose, but I did feel people might not take me seriously if they knew my age. Eventually the cat came out of the bag and no one really acted any differently (to my face at least )

Oh, and my homepage is Isara but I have a DVXuser button in my browser for easy access. I always have one browser opened with FOX News, DVXuser and Isara. :)

Fox News? Nick...you have fallen on my cool meter.

BBC is the homepage of choice. But personally I am turning 20 in october. Yeah - I am young. I am pretty sure that may surprise some people.

I started in the film industry when I was 14 when I opened my own production company. Pulled in a few thousand a year. Filmed paintball events. Staff photographer and contributing editor for a paintball mag at 16.

And everyone in Ithaca smokes pot...haha (I don't personally) But good for you for not drinking. Its probably better you never start. But I personally enjoy it.

So, I am a baby too. Who still shoots film. And I know the feeling of loading a mag when set is waiting. And even right before the shoot. Three of us, I was the DoP, spend an hour loading an Aaton. The mag was built backwards. 2:00AM, tired...couldn't load it. The emulsion kept coming out the wrong way. Don't ask what we did. I, to this day, couldn't tell you how we messed it up.

:( We are not getting into this. I would hate to see this thread get closed. (Not really sad, though. :) To each his own, right?)

No. I just like pretending I am to weird people out. Are you saying you never saw my 1000th post video? Or my interview during the LA screening?

Harrumph! Now YOU have fallen on MY cool meter, sir!

Haha, I use BBC because it's international news. I am an active member in Model United Nations back at school. And I like to keep up to date on world news. BBC is, inherently, international. So, not really politics, just the reasoning.

And yeah, I new penguin was young. (PS. Mac - Penguin is young...he is just pretending to be older.)

To the young film makers of tomorrow!

I decided to take out my Hi8 Camera, what with all the nostalgia going on. It's pretty broken. I really ran that thing into the ground.

I remember being 15. Twenty frickin' years ago. At least you're on the filmmaking bandwagon early. <-- That's root beer, btw.

15 was actually one of my better years. 17-30? Not so much.

But you won a Nobel Prize in Physics!

I am glad to be on so early in life. The funny thing is (and I know you all get this) it's like a disease. I can't just watch a movie anymore and every where I go I see things that I could turn into films. Why just today I was in town and I went to a certain place and did a certain thing and thought "Damn, this is a good idea." I am hoping to start making money now. I don't care how young I am, if the product is good than it's worth paying for, right? Lord knows I need the money, maybe with one good feature I could finish up my car. Then again, maybe I am crazy...

Hell, when I graduated from high school in 1971 our cameras were made of wood.

I do find it refreshing that this community is comprised of such a wide range of ages.

With few exceptions, people respect what you have to say without regard to where you're from or how old you are. (Although that uncouth Simon in Germany did make some seriously uncouth comments about my "old man smell." I shall deal with him appropriately in due time.)

I would be happy to help you, sir. He won't get off my back about that script read I am supposed to do. The PMs have gotten so bad and so frequent I have been purposely putting it off.

Just kidding, Simon. I am just uber busy right now. I should do that today or tomorrow, shouldn't I? I keep getting busy with other stuff and forgetting. :)
