I married a Canadian, and my daughter was born there so she is Canadian too! I've contemplated moving there for the free health care, more reasonable housing prices, and all around niceness of the people, but man, those winters are brutal. Minus 40 for weeks on end!

Are you fucking kidding me? Once Winter hits here it hits lows of below 20 for long periods of time. Stop complaining! Everyone!
Also, I may have been stripped of my title, but I am still the Political Police so be careful now! :)

You do realize when I say Minus 40, I mean -40 degrees Celsius? As in 40 degrees BELOW zero. And that is the point on the Farenheit scale where Farenheit and Celsius coincide, so it's also -40F. That is mother-frakkin' COLD!!!!! And it's that cold, DURING THE DAY WITH THE SUN SHINING!!!!

I'm Canadian Eh!
People on this internet doohiky thing always wonder how I get internet in an igloo. How silly... of course we get internet access in igloos! Just our computers freeze more often (cue laughter).
Well here in montreal it's two extremes. We get very hot and humid summer days. We've had days that go up to 30-32 Celsius, but with humidity it can get close to 40 Celsius. Of course in the winter it goes down to minus 20-30 Celsius, with wind chill it has been known to get to minus 40.
However vancouverites don't know the meaning of extremes. I was in vancouver and it was chilly the whole time I was there. Low 20s and no humidity. In the winter it doesn't go very low, and it's rare that it snows. In fact it rains a lot and the plants turn green. Weird...

Celsius!? Holy shit! Sorry for the misunderstanding, I am American and just assume everyone else will make sure they put things in American terms. That is cold, Christ!

Yeah, the winters can be a drag though, a solid month of straight rain does suck and sometimes I'd rather have snow. I always find the city so much brighter when it snows.

I spent a number of years working and living in the high Arctic. So now to compensate I have a place in Barbados where I spend the winter as I'm more into sun, surf and sand these days.

There's no money here, never was and never will be, not for the arts.
Maybe come back at retirement time if you want. Some of the american actors have homes here in the local county and go fishing and what not.

BS. The Dutch, English and Germans, oookay. Europeans kick our ass on beer.
I drink beer brewed in Denmark , by Royal Unibrew...

Liquour, it's Ice Vodka from Newfoundland or imported Russian.
Candian beer? Sorry, it's a myth.
Tequila? I know real mexican tequlia. I lived there for a few months at least.
The stuff they sell here, in shitsville, is 'not' even close.
Yep, Canadian beer being great is a myth. It's all BS my friend.
It'll make you sicker than a dog in the morning. All BS.

Canadian beer is not a myth. Molson Canadian is over rated. But really? Steam Whistle, Sleemans, Labbat anything, Kokanee...The list goes on, so myth my butt. I should also mention, for those of you interested, that B.C has some of the best "plant life" the world has ever known.
I live in Northern, Ontario. The heart of Gold country and home of Shania Twain. Hard rock mining is the culture, which I have grown to accept but still need to leave. We have almost a 100 degree celsius difference from coldest day to hottest. In the summer it get as hot as +40 with the humidity and in the winter it can go down to -60 with the windchill, on those days diesel fuel turns to gel, you are frostbit in minutes and its generally a great day for a bbq.
I should also mention that our healthcare isn't in fact free, but since we in Canada are far less afraid of those damn commies, we had great people like Tommy Douglas come forward and say, hey wait a minute, if we want are country to be great, why don't we work together for the greater good of everyone... hurray socialism, sadly we are in the grips of a conservative leader who would want nothing more then for the rich to get richer and poor to get sicker because they cant afford health care.
So yes, I am Canadian.

I agree, some of the beer is alright, but other stuff is just shit. I hardly ever drink Canadian beer, usually a European or German beer, something that's not going to make you feel like piss in the morning. I will not touch any kind of draft beer anymore, absolute shit. That being said there is some great Canadian beers around, but majority of the big names I don't like.
